Admiralty House, located right on the ocean with a million dollar panoramic view, is in the charming historic village of Lunenburg, with excellent shops and restaurants a few steps away. It has proved to be an ideal vacation and honeymoon spot for so many since we began sharing it for weekly tourist rental in 1999. Since Admiralty House is a duplex consisting of two private fully equipped flats, The Upper Deck and The Captain’s Quarters, we have also hosted many happy family reunions by the sea. All of our guests to date have said that Admiralty House is even more wonderful than any website can portray; the views are glorious, the village, the south shore beaches and Halifax are all at your fingertips but one still has the privacy of a quiet and spacious (each flat is 1200 square feet) home away from home.

PET FRIENDLY: Your dog will love it here and may come, with permission, for an extra $100 (plus tax) per stay.

Lunenburg itself is a delightful fishing village of about 2,500, designated a UNESCO world heritage site, and home-port of the famous schooner Bluenose. Tours of the Bluenose, The Captain Angus J. Walters House, The Knaut Rhuland Historic House and historic walking tours are available. Lunenburg offers many interesting sites and walks, such as the remarkable architecture of restored homes, the world class Fisherman's museum, sailing excursions, whale watch tours and carriage tours, deep-sea fishing, a lobster dinner cruise, as well as excellent restaurants and an interesting variety of shops, art galleries, craft boutiques and antique stores.

There are municipal tennis courts and a swimming pool. For your convenience, there is a complete grocery store a few hundred yards away, and the delivery boys will cheerfully bring your groceries (including that lobster!) right to the kitchen, free of charge. Welcome to village life in Nova Scotia!! Lovely sand beaches are 5-10 minutes away. Lunenburg is a perfect location for exploring Nova Scotia. The cosmopolitan Halifax is only an hour away, and all of the wonders of the south shore villages and beaches are at your doorstep.

Nova Scotia is a seaside province of rare beauty, with miles of coast line, and acres of woodlands and farming valleys. The air is fresh and pure and the people warm and friendly. With under a million people in the province, travelling is easy and the open spaces plentiful. At the same time there is easy access to a wide array of local fresh foods (including seafood) as well foods to suit cosmopolitan tastes. There are excellent restaurants, from fine dining to home-style local cooking, and all at reasonable prices. We are proud of our heritage, which is preserved in an excellent system of museums (e.g. the Fisheries museum), restored houses and living heritage sites (e.g. boat building or pioneer farming). The culture of our native people and the new settlers from England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany and many other lands is reflected in our place names, historic sites and traditional foods. Please come and experience our communities by the sea and our beaches, you are warmly welcomed.

Only one hour away, the provincial capital, Halifax, outwardly shows a modern face, but its inside is filled with an historic heart. It is a bustling city that has a long affiliation with the sea. Excellent restaurants and shopping, historic and lively waterfront with buskers, shops, sailing tours, restaurants, a casino and entertainment. There are many excellent tours, such as the harbour hopper & a double-decker bus. Halifax Harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world (after Sydney, Australia); the harbour is the pulse that beats the city, bringing tourists and sea farers by the thousands. To more fully understand the importance of the sea in Halifax's history, visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The museum houses a collection of nautical memorabilia including a display of shipwrecks off of Nova Scotia, Queen Victoria's barge, various historic small craft, and a continuously running film by National Geographic about the RMS Titanic, which sunk off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1914.
